The Elk Grove Thundering Herd defeated the Franklin Wildcats 30-26 during Access Sacramento‘s Hometown Sports Game of the Week, likely securing a Delta League spot in the post season CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs with just one week of regular season football remaining.
Elk Grove with a 4-2 league record moves ahead of Franklin and Monterey Trail at 3-3 each. Jesuit leads the Delta League with a 6-0 record, with Sheldon in 2nd place at 5-1.
This high scoring match up features plenty of defensive scoring along with the offense, with Elk Grove’s Brandon Grant taking two 4th quarter interceptions to close down this see-saw battle.
