Elk Grove #52 Brandon Grant dives for his second Interception of the 4th Quarter to shutdown Franklin.

The Elk Grove Thundering Herd defeated the Franklin Wildcats 30-26 during Access Sacramento‘s Hometown Sports Game of the Week, likely securing a Delta League spot in the post season CIF Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs with just one week of regular season football remaining.

Elk Grove with a 4-2 league record moves ahead of Franklin and Monterey Trail at 3-3 each. Jesuit leads the Delta League with a 6-0 record, with Sheldon in 2nd place at 5-1.

This high scoring match up features plenty of defensive scoring along with the offense, with Elk Grove’s Brandon Grant taking two 4th quarter interceptions to close down this see-saw battle.

Access Sacramento’s Will James and Jim Dimino narrate the highlights:

Franklin #33 Damerien Claridy with an interception return for a TD.
